For a number of years, Narration Translation Office has provided interpretation services to companies, institutions, and individuals.

Simultaneous interpretation relies on interpreting at the same time as the speaker speaks. Simultaneous interpretation is usually performed in a soundproof booth, from which the interpreter is able to see the speaker. The interpreter is not in direct contact with the speaker, which is why if there are difficulties, s/he cannot ask the speaker to repeat or rephrase the statement. The interpreter hears nothing but the speaker’s voice through headphones and provides an interpretation of what is said into a microphone, which is relayed to the audience through a distributed headset receiver. According to international standards, simultaneous interpreters take turns every 15-30 minutes.

Apart from advanced knowledge of source and target languages, a simultaneous interpreter is required to be resistant to stress, possess divided attention, high concentration, reflexes and good diction. Not everyone can become a simultaneous interpreter. In order to become one, an interpreter has to hold proper education and training, usually provided by universities or interpreting schools.

When is simultaneous interpretation needed?

Simultaneous interpreting is most often used at international meetings, conferences, and for the needs of television broadcasts.
